Here’s your proposal checklist:
01 Make It About HER
Don't just copy that proposal you saw on Instagram. Think about your relationship. Your favourite place, your first date, that random spot you both love, or something she's always wanted to do. Plan something that feels like you two!
The more personal, the better.
02 Get Her Dressed Up
You want her looking GOOD when you finally get down on one knee.
If it's a surprise, give her a believable reason to dress up.
“Babe, let's go out for a proper dinner” might be enough.
You do NOT want her showing up in her “quick errand” outfit for the biggest surprise of her life. 😂
03 PLEASE Get The Nails Done
If your girl does her nails regularly, this is SUPER important!
She's going to take approximately 847 pictures of that ring. Make sure her nails are ready for their close-up.
04 Don't Forget YOUR Outfit
My brother, you're getting proposed to too.
You're going to be in every picture, so don't show up looking like you just came back from only the barbershop.
Dress for the occasion.
05 Get Her Person Involved
Her best friend. Her sister. Her cousin. Whoever knows her best.
They can help get her ready, keep the secret and make sure she doesn't accidentally figure out what's happening.
06 GET A PHOTOGRAPHER
Please don't let the only evidence of your proposal be a blurry WhatsApp video from someone's uncle. 😭
Get someone who knows what they're doing. You want to capture the reaction, the tears, the shock and that beautiful “YES!”
07 Know What You're Going To Say
You don't need a Shakespearean speech.
Just tell her what you love about her, what she means to you and why you want to spend the rest of your life with her.
And maybe practise it once or twice because you WILL forget everything when you get down on one knee. 😂
08 Plan What Happens AFTER She Says YES
Don't let the moment end with “Okay, let's go home.” 😭
Book dinner. Get your closest people waiting somewhere. Have champagne. Plan a little celebration. Or just take the two of you somewhere special.
Make the whole day feel like an occasion.
09 Have A Backup Plan
Planning an outdoor proposal? Check the weather.
Got a specific venue? Have another option.
Because the only thing worse than rain ruining the proposal is standing in the rain pretending everything is fine. 😂 (especially if she has her makeup on)
AND FINALLY… KEEP IT PERSONAL. ❤️
